Health authorities have overwhelmingly supported the efficacy of mask use in slowing the spread of COVID-19. As students prepare to return to school, and their parents to working once again outside of the home, many are preparing to adjust to a new mask-wearing reality.
For all day use, especially for children, here are some tips:
- There are a lot of styles and fits for face masks - find the style that you find most comfortable
- Take breaks when outdoors and social distancing is possible
Tips to always keep in mind when wearing a mask:
- Wash or sanitize your hands before and after donning and doffing your mask
- Make sure the mask covers both mouth and nose
- Make sure the mask feels snug
- Once the mask is on, refrain from touching it - always have hand sanitizer nearby so that you can sanitize your hands if you touch it accidentally
- If your mask becomes damp or dirty, dispose of it and get a new one
If you are using a reusbale cloth mask, please keep the following in mind:
- Put used masks in a sealed container or bag until you can wash it
- Try and remove the mask without touching the front of the mask or your face
- Always wash or sanitize your hands after removing your mask.
- Regularly wash your masks with soap and water, either by hand or in the washing machine
