Joint Health & Safety Committee Training: Part 1 (Chief Prevention Officer Approved)
This Ontario Chief Prevention Officer approved Joint Health & Safety Committee Training, Part 1 course is required for organizations that have Joint Health and Safety Committees as required under the Occupational Health and Safety Act. At least one management member and one worker member on the Joint Health and Safety Committee must be certified.
The goal of this 3 day course is to provide participants with knowledge on the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and internal responsibility system. The participants will also learn about their role as members of the Joint Health and Safety Committee. The course will explain the required duties of both the JHSC certified and non-certified members. As well, participants will receive instruction on hazard recognition and control, workplace inspections and accident investigations.
The Ontario Chief Prevention Officer requires a course minimum of 6 participants and a maximum of 24. This is to ensure a dynamic classroom environment and to facilitate group activities to assist in the knowledge transfer.
